1. RUNOUT ACCURACY STABILIZATION
Run out defect failures (NG) were occurring during customers' in-house part machining and assembly due to part accuracy dimensions at their factories. Minebea responded by boosting precision and changing to the correct parts tolerance during assembly, which resulted in improving runouts and rattles, etc
2. PREVENTING COTTON FIBERS <Anti-contamination measures.>
Minebea succeeded in preventing cotton fibers from penetrating into the bearing by using a custom outer seal on the bearing and also mounting a resin piece onto the bearing outer edges.
(Customer specs call for clamping the stainless steel shield with a stop ring. Minebea design uses adhesive type.)
3. PRODUCT MARKING
Minebea succeeded in laser marking of part edges for product logo printing to meet market needs for anti-copy protection.
4.IDEAL BEARING SELECTION
Minebea extends product service life by allowing customers to select bearing specifications that match actual usage conditions. This drastically reduces the frequency of bearing sets to be replaced
Minebea made the following improvements in preload management compared to when this is performed in-house by the customer.
- Lowers number of service periods at customer plant （because Minebea performs preloading.
- Reduces part quantity （Minebea selects optimal preloading technique）.
- No drop in production due to preloading omission （preloading is checked at Minebea before shipping）.
- Minimal variations in starting torque（because Minebea strictly monitors preload amount).
6.ENHANCED DETECTION ACCURACY
Customers who use bearings as separate units asked us to boost sensor detection accuracy. We proposed use of preloaded bearing assemblies. By doing this we achieved better runout, less rattle, and boosted the detection accuracy.
7.BEARING INTERMESHCustomers who mounted Minebea bearings onto shafts made by other companies found that slippage on the inner race diameter was causing shaft wear. Minebea successfully eliminated this wear by setting an ideal mesh tolerance.
We proposed that our customers using hard chrome plating to switch over to electroless nickel plating. This helped drastically to cut costs while maintaining the required surface hardness. These plated products had extremely strict runout accuracy however Minebea processing technology succeeded in boosting the runout accuracy to an even higher level.
9.FEWER PARTS REQUIRED
Minebea succeeded in boosting the bearing strength by preloading the bearing. Consequently, parts to prevent arm drift are no longer needed; fewer parts lower total product cost.
