This document ranks safety precautions into two types: Danger and Caution.
Danger- Incorrect use could result in death or serious injury to the user.
Caution- Incorrect use could result in injury to the user or property damage.
Using this product in nuclear power, aerospace, medical, transportation, safety device, or other applications in which product breakdown or malfunction could lead to death or bodily harm requires case-by-case investigation. Consult your sales representative.
Although all possible control measures are taken to ensure quality, unexpected breakdowns can cause clutches to stick, producing continuous rotation, and brakes to fail, producing coasting. To provide for such eventualities, take sufficient safety measures on the machinery. In particular, provide double and triple safety measures for applications using negative-actuated holding brakes. Store the Operation Manual in a safe place readily accessible for perusal, and be sure to provide it to the end user.

- Danger
- Do not use this product in an atmosphere where there is a risk of ignition or explosion.
- Slipping during starting and braking can generate sparks. Never use this product in an atmosphere containing grease or combustible gases, risking ignition or explosion. Hermetically seal off the body if there is cloth or other flammable material in the vicinity. Note, however, that such sealing reduces the allowable engaging energy.

- Always install safety covers.
- This product contains a rotating body, so touching it risks hand or finger injury. Always install well-ventilated safety covers to prevent body contact. Also provide a safety mechanism for bringing the rotating body to an emergency stop when such covers are opened.

- This product cannot be used for braking.
- This negative-actuated brake is designed solely for holding and emergency stop applications. Extended use for braking degrades its functionality over a short period, rendering it incapable of releasing. Using it in that state produces brake burnout and loss of braking force, allowing machinery to run out of control.

- Please do not rev up to exceed the allowable rotating speed.
- Operation at allowable rotating speed or more results in significantly dangerous situation that increases vibration which, in certain cases, causes breaking or scattering. Please make sure to operate at rotating speed within maximum allowable limit.

- Please operate not to exceed allowable engaging (braking) energy rate.
- Operation at allowable engaging (braking) energy rate or more may result in increased heat generation and red heat on active surface possibly causing fire. Please operate at engaging (braking) energy rate within allowable limit, or otherwise the specified performance would not be achieved.

- Please make sure a complete torque tightening and bolts locking is performed.
- Depending on bolts locking conditions, there may be a risk of significantly dangerous situation such as shearing, breaking, etc. Please make sure to use the specified locking torque and bolt materials and to take perfect measures for locking by an adhesive, spring washers, etc.

- Please use cables of size suitable for generator capacity.
- Use of cables with less current capacity may result in risk of electric shock, leaks caused by melted insulating coating, insulation failure, as well as cause of fire.

- The friction materials used in this product include non-asbestos material (phenol resin), etc. Please seal with cover, etc. to prevent from flying friction debris. Diffusion of friction debris in factory may cause pneumonia, etc.

- It is a characteristic of this product that clutch / brake are released upon passage of electric current through coil.
- Please make sure that it should be suitable for purpose of use before assembly to machine.

- Please conduct lubrication in accordance with the specifications with respect to type, volume and lubricating method of lubricant oil.
- Departure from the specified operation may result in accompanying load like increased idling torque possibly causing injury due to machine running even at OFF- state.
